What you need to know
- The Xbox Series X is Microsoft’s upcoming next-generation console.
- Today, Microsoft confirmed a few key details about the device.
- Instead of calling it the most powerful Xbox, the team is now saying it’s “the most-powerful gaming console.”
- Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will also be built on Unreal Engine 5.
Today, Microsoft confirmed a few key details about the Xbox Series X on Xbox Wire. The company sent Windows Central a press release with the highlights of the post. Firstly, instead of calling the Xbox Series X the most powerful Xbox ever, the team is referring to it as “the most-powerful gaming console.” This appears to be based on the teraflop (TFLOPS) difference between the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 (PS5). The Xbox Series X features 12 TFLOPS while the PS5’s maximum figure is 10.28 through overclocking. While these figures aren’t the only bearing on gameplay performance, additional graphical horsepower aids developers in drawing more from the console.
🎮 The most powerful console ever
🎮 Re-engineered from the inside out
🎮 Designed for speed and performance
🎮 Amazing graphical fidelity

The Xbox Wire post said the following about the technical specifications.
Xbox Series X, the most-powerful gaming console, empowers developers to deliver on their creative visions and dreams. It packs an unprecedented 12 teraflops of GPU power and enables new technologies and features like hardware-accelerated Direct X ray tracing, variable rate shading, framerates up to 120 FPS, and Quick Resume for multiple games, all of which cumulatively will deliver a new level of fidelity, immediacy, precision, and accuracy never before seen in console gaming.
However, the bigger news is that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, will be built on Unreal Engine 5. A few weeks ago, Epic Games stunned the world by revealing Unreal Engine 5 running on PS5. If that presentation is any indication of quality, Hellblade II should look amazing on Xbox Series X. Xbox Wire added the following.
The power of Xbox Series X was first demonstrated with the unveiling of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. The team will be building the game on Unreal Engine 5 and leveraging the power of Xbox Series X to bring the Hellblade franchise to levels never before seen. The footage shown was captured in-engine and reflects the power of Xbox Series X available to developers to deliver new universes, experiences, and games in ways you have never imagined.
The team will continue to update the post as new information is available. Hopefully, we’ll see extended footage from some first-party games soon.
Both the Xbox Series X and PS5 are expected to launch in Holiday 2020.
